17 – 18 July 2015 Mud Run Tredegar House CC Wales
No nothing to do with driving Roxie about more about getting dirty running around!
Friday – Arrived at the Caravan Club site at Tredegar House in fine weather having had a pleasant drive down. I am finding driving Roxie such a pleasant experience and a great way to see the countryside, something I had forgotten about. Site was all ready for us and I drove straight onto it, apparently the last site available so only had to move the traffic cone. It was quite good really but slightly under the trees again. Alex set about putting up her small tent under the awning and then the surround wind breaker that we had bought to keep the dogs in and quiet. Before settling down for the night took the dogs for a walk around which they enjoyed and I discovered the area in front of the house for their next walk. Supper and a fairly early turn in as Charley (Alex’s friend) was due in the morning to take Kaz and Alex to the Mud Run start.
Saturday – An early breakfast and an early walk for the dogs. Charley turned up and off they went, rather nervously! I spent the day trying to understand some of the vagaries of Roxie. Need to sort out the electrics and the door locks. On the other hand I can see that the bathroom door turned the other way would be beneficial – this I will tackle soon. I spent some time removing the rear transfers and applying some red luminous strips in their place. A quiet day spent reading with the odd beer – bliss. About 4pm the girls came back, (wearing black bin bags to protect Charley’s car) very muddy indeed!! Hot showers and glasses of wine and beer soon put this right. Evening saw the girls everyone resting after a hard day in the mud. I took the dogs for an evening play, they can be such fun.
Sunday – After breakfast we took the dogs for their last walk on the large flat open space in front of the house. They were thoroughly worn out ready for the drive back. Returning to Roxie for a quick breakfast and to pack up before the 11.30am deadline we found the awning was slightly wet from the night before as was the wind break. These were thus only loosely folded and put into the garage. Although it was such a lovely morning, we left in bright sunlight, this soon turned into a drizzle and then heavy rain. Thus an uneventful drive home in the rain!
